The present paper provides details of a significant classroom based research study that explored the status reading and comprehension instructions in early primary classrooms Indian context. It is as there has been dearth any these fields—early reading, school years, grade India. was exploratory, descriptive qualitative nature. examines nature instructions, quality experiences, whether experiences are meaningful for learners or not, kinds materials accessible to students their engagement with texts second classrooms. describes various challenges evaluates situation light recommendations provided policy documents.
